Recap: Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds vs. Moffat Cowboys
The Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent game on Saturday. They blew past Moffat 58-22 at home. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Sangre de Cristo also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Sangre de Cristo's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Presley Wilson, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Wilson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrina Knorr, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Moffat struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Sangre de Cristo racked up 17 assists.
Sangre de Cristo pushed their record up to 12-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Moffat, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sangre de Cristo will take on Lake City at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sangre de Cristo is facing Lake City at the right time seeing as Lake City is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Moffat, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Primero at 2:00 p.m.
