Baseball Recap: Golden Valley Comes Up Short

Golden Valley extended their losing streak to eight on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 8-16 in the process. They came up short against the West Ranch Wildcats, falling 9-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Grizzlies of the 6-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Golden Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Gayles, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

As for West Ranch, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 17-9. They not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2nd (when they won 12-0).

On West Ranch's side, the team relied heavily on Mikey Murr, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Stoll, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

While Golden Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
