Baseball Recap: California Comes Up Short

California lost against Livermore back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. California fell 13-9 to Livermore.

Tommy Casserly was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jacob Casiano made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Lucas Phinney also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

California's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Livermore, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. California is set to take on their familiar foe Amador Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Livermore will face off against rival San Ramon Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Livermore 3.5, San Ramon Valley 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
