Basketball Game Preview: Center Cougars vs. Mira Loma Matadors

The Center Cougars will face off against the Mira Loma Matadors at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Center is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.4 points per game this season.

Center is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 61-58 heartbreaker at the hands of Colfax. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 732nd, while the Falcons are ranked 346th).

Center might have lost, but man, Nathan Nelson was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Nelson a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Dylan Waggoner, who posted five points along with five assists and four steals.

Meanwhile, Mira Loma came up short against Marysville on Friday and fell 61-50. The Matadors haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Mira Loma's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Center, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-11.

Center strolled past Mira Loma when the teams last played back in December of 2019 by a score of 58-41. Will Center repeat their success, or does Mira Loma have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
