Basketball Game Preview: Jellico Blue Devils vs. Midway Green Wave

The Jellico Blue Devils will challenge the Midway Green Wave at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Jellico has now lost 18 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since November 26.

Last Tuesday, Jellico was beaten by Coalfield 102-35. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 351st, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 89th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Savannah Lay, who posted 12 points.

Meanwhile, Midway was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 55-51 to Sweetwater.

Jellico's record now sits at 1-19. As for Midway, their record now sits at 12-8.

Jellico took a serious blow against Midway in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 72-43. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Midway's Kyleigh Cawood, who went 10 of 21 en route to 28 points along with seven assists and seven steals.
