Basketball Recap: Carson Falls Despite Big Games from Allie Martin and Rylee Hedrick

Carson's last matchup with Northwest Cabarrus could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Monday. The Carson Cougars lost 52-31 to the Northwest Cabarrus Trojans. The Cougars have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Rylee Hedrick and Allie Martin certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Hedrick almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine boards, while Martin dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds. Hedrick is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last nine games she's played.

Even though they lost, Carson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive matchups.

Carson's defeat dropped their record down to 6-19. As for Northwest Cabarrus, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season.

Carson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Northwest Cabarrus, they have already played their next game, a 52-42 loss against East Rowan on the 18th.
