Basketball Recap: Conemaugh Township Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Colin Dinyar and Ethan Matera

Conemaugh Township lost against West Shamokin back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Conemaugh Township Indians fell 59-46 to the West Shamokin Wolves.

Despite the loss, Conemaugh Township had strong showings from Ethan Matera, who went 9 for 14 en route to 21 points and eight rebounds, and Colin Dinyar, who posted 11 points and eight boards. With that strong performance, Matera is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Stephen Stango was another key player, putting up eight points.

It was another big night for Jacob Allen, who went 11 of 21 on his way to 29 points for West Shamokin. Another player making a difference was Alex Talmadge, who went 5 for 8 en route to 15 points and three steals.

Conemaugh Township's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-6. As for West Shamokin, their win bumped their record up to 17-4.

When Conemaugh Township and West Shamokin next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Conemaugh Township will try to stop North Star's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Conemaugh Township is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Meanwhile, West Shamokin will face off against Portage and their three-game winning streak at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Conemaugh Township is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59 points per game this season.
