Volleyball Recap: Cocoa Falls to Melbourne in First Game of Season

Cocoa unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Melbourne Bulldogs on Monday, falling 3-0. The Tigers have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

While Cocoa ultimately came up short, they really made Melbourne work, particularly in the third set. The final score came out to 25-5, 25-10, 26-6.

Kinsey Hurd had an outrageously good game for Melbourne as she had ten digs and six aces. Those six aces gave Hurd a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Fey Fitzpatrick, who had five digs and two aces.

Cocoa wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Rockledge on the 26th. As for Melbourne, they have also already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Space Coast on the 19th.
