 Clairemont was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight  defeat. They took  a  5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the La Jolla Vikings. That's two games in a row now that Clairemont has lost by  exactly three  runs.
 Clairemont saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Colton Daudet, who  scored a  run while going 1-for-1.
 On La Jolla's side,  Declan Kelly made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound,   tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off   two  hits. Kelly was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Ryan Kestler, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was  Renner Smith, who  scored a  run while going 1-for-2.
 Clairemont's loss dropped their record down to 13-10-1. As for La Jolla, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won eight of their last nine matches,  which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record  this season.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clairemont will  challenge Mission Bay at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. Mission Bay's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1  runs per game  this season, so Clairemont's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for La Jolla, they will head out on the road to  take on  Madison at 4:00  p.m.  on Monday. Madison has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the  game with four straight  defeats, while La Jolla will come in with three straight  victories.
