Football Recap: Dre'keim Abercrombie's Big Game Can't Quite Lead East Liverpool over Edison

East Liverpool was the 21-20 winner over Edison when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The contest between the Potters and the Wildcats didn't end well, with the Potters falling 34-20. The Potters were down 34-6 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

East Liverpool's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dre'Keim Abercrombie, who picked up 109 receiving yards and one touchdown. Abercrombie really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 78 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Tamar Tisdale, who rushed for 72 yards and one TD on only seven carries.

Even if they lost, East Liverpool's defensive line still kept up the pressure with seven sacks. In that department, Abercrombie was the leader with four.

This is the second loss in a row for East Liverpool and nudges their season record down to 2-6. As for Edison, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

East Liverpool will face off against Weir at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Potters will be up against the Red Riders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 36.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Edison, they will square off against Harrison Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
