Big Game from Cook As Grass Lake Won 28-7

Starting off the list is Grass Lake's Bryant Cook, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Cook picked up 140 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 75 yards.

Grass Lake's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-3. Cook will try to repeat (or improve) on that dominant effort when he faces off against Addison on Friday.

On Friday, Michigan Center had to settle for second even though Braylon Brown put up the best numbers he has all season. Brown rushed for 150 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries.

This season, Brown has run in 8 touchdowns while averaging 84.8 rushing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging 39.75 rushing yards per game.

Braylen Villarreal Turns in Another Game with at Least Seven Total Tackles

On Friday, Michigan Center had to settle for second even though Braylen Villarreal put up the best numbers he has all season. Villarreal wasn't messing around, forcing a fumble and making 18 total tackles. The match was his eighth straight with seven or more total tackles dating back to last season.

On the year, Villarreal has averaged 10.5 total tackles per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging 0.25 total tackles per game.

Lape Made His Presence Known in Grass Lake's 28-7 Victory

The second Grass Lake player making an appearance here is Brayden Lape, and for good reason. He threw for 290 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.6 yards per attempt, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. He is becoming a predictor of Grass Lake's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't).

Leslie had to have seen this coming; the last time they saw Lape it was a similar story. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Lape saw the Blackhawks), he threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes.
