Softball Recap: Covington Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Covington had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Seeger on Monday. The Trojans blew past the Patriots 6-0. The victory was familiar territory for the Trojans, who have now won four matchups in a row.

Not much got past Alexus Peaslee, who gave up just five hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Seeger off the board. Peaslee has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Alex Sutherlin was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 12 contests. Brooke Rottmann was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Covington pushed their record up to 7-9 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Seeger, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.

Covington will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Patriots: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
