Volleyball Recap: Ponderosa Starts Season with Loss on the Road + How To Watch

Ponderosa kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against the Pueblo West Cyclones, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-14, 25-10, 25-13.

Lucy Wortman paced Ponderosa's offense, picking up six kills. Wortman got some help from Rylie McNulty and her seven assists. Brooklynn McClain controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Pueblo West's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jillian Millirons led the charge by getting seven aces and six digs. Those six digs gave Millirons a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bricelyn Baudino, who had eight digs and two assists.

Ponderosa didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Arapahoe on the 28th. As for Pueblo West, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Air Academy on the 28th.
