Basketball Recap: Meridian Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bosqueville, Meridian was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They skirted past the Crawford Pirates 41-39. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Yellowjackets have posted since January 10, 2025.

Josh Nunez was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. He also grabbed six steals, which is notable because Meridian is 7-1 when he posts at least three steals, but 6-14 otherwise. Guillermo Ortiz was another key player, putting up eight points and six boards.

Meridian pushed their record up to 13-15 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points over those games. As for Crawford, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.

Looking ahead, Meridian will welcome Itasca at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Crawford, they will head out to take on Royal at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
