Preview: Ocoee Knights vs. Edgewater Eagles
The Ocoee Knights will be playing at home against the Edgewater Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Ocoee's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Edgewater has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Ocoee suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were beaten by Colonial 56-27. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Ocoee has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Ocoee got a solid performance out of Micah Hannah, who scored 16 points along with three steals. Hannah is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Paris Triplett was another key contributor, scoring two points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Edgewater came up short against Boone on Friday and fell 45-36. While losing is never fun, Edgewater can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while Boone is ranked 35th).
Ocoee's defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Edgewater, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-7.
Ocoee couldn't quite finish off Edgewater when the teams last played back in December of 2022 and fell 43-40. Can Ocoee avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
