Estancia had lost four games straight , but after bumping their record up to 3-7 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the Penasco Panthers 20-5. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Bears' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Michael Anaya made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Anaya was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with six stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Leon Maxwell-Preisen and Christopher Rodriguez did most of the damage at the plate: Maxwell-Preisen got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Estancia is 3-1 when Maxwell-Preisen posts two or more runs, but 0-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Pebley, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Estancia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .577. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
As for Penasco, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for they, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-12.
On Penasco's side, Lyrik Montoya was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Montoya is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Xavier Noll was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Estancia beat Penasco by a score of 15-1 later that day.
