Baseball Recap: Middle College Takes a Loss

Middle College suffered their closest defeat since March 10th on Thursday. They fell just short of the Memphis Central Warriors by a score of 11-9. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Amir Cole was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Nyles Rone also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Middle College's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Memphis Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

Middle College will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Craigmont at 3:30 p.m. As for Memphis Central, they will venture away from home to square off against Overton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolverines have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season.
