Basketball Recap: Kennedy Takes a Loss

Kennedy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 51-45 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bruce Randolph Grizzlies. The contest was a 25-25 toss-up at halftime, but the Commanders couldn't quite close it out.

Despite the loss, Kennedy still got an impressive performance from Anthony Zink, who posted 20 points and six boards. That was a full 44.4% of Kennedy's points, marking the third time in a row he's scored more than a third of the team's points. Xavier Benavidez was another key player, putting up five points and three steals.

Kennedy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Bruce Randolph, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-6.

Kennedy and Bruce Randolph could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. Kennedy (ranked 323rd) will meet DSST: Conservatory Green (ranked 120th) at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Kennedy has given up an average of 51.4 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week. Meanwhile, Bruce Randolph will challenge DSST: Green Valley Ranch at 6:30 p.m. on Friday down 178 places (272 vs. 94).
