Baseball Recap: Warhill Takes a Loss

Warhill had lost six straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-10 to make it seven. They fell just short of the Lafayette Rams by a score of 9-8. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-2 back in March.

Logan Timberg was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Evan Harney was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Lafayette, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.

On Lafayette's side, Brady Isaksen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Isaksen has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Quinn Walton, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Lafayette: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Derek Magallon, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Warhill will host Denbigh at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Lafayette, they will welcome Smithfield at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
