Softball Game Preview: Russell Red Devils vs. Bath County Wildcats

The Russell Red Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Bath County Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Russell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Russell's offense. They came up short against Greenup County on Thursday, falling 10-0. The Red Devils haven't had much luck with the Musketeers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Bath County gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Nicholas County 17-2. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won seven matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Bath County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Russell, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.

Russell beat Bath County 11-8 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Red Devils repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
