Basketball Recap: Peoria Comes Up Short

Peoria was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 22nd straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 76-21 defeat at the hands of the Pekin Dragons. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dragons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.

Peoria's defeat dropped their record down to 0-21. As for Pekin, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Peoria and Pekin could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Peoria (ranked 529th) will meet Manual (ranked 104th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Pekin will square off against Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday down 81 places (85 vs. 4).
