Soccer Game Preview: Agoura vs. Westlake

The Agoura Chargers will venture away from home to take on the Westlake Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Agoura's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for seven straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Agoura is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Newbury Park on Wednesday. Agoura took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Newbury Park. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 618th, while the Panthers are ranked 120th).

Despite a strong season so far, Westlake has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Calabasas.

Westlake's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4. As for Agoura, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8-2.

Agoura came up short against Westlake in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 3-1. Can Agoura avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
