Basketball Game Preview: White River Valley Wildcats vs. Springfield Cosmos

The White River Valley Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Springfield Cosmos at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

White River Valley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Vermont's top teams: Hartford, who was ranked sixth at the time (White River Valley was ranked 13th). White River Valley was beaten by Hartford 60-32 on Wednesday. The Wildcats' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Springfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. The matchup between them and Fair Haven didn't end well, with Springfield falling 42-23.

White River Valley's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-1. As for Springfield, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

White River Valley came up short against Springfield in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 42-35. Can White River Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
