Basketball Game Preview: Williamstown Yellowjackets vs. Ritchie County Rebels

The Williamstown Yellowjackets will face off against the Ritchie County Rebels at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Williamstown will head into Monday's contest on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Ravenswood on Monday. Williamstown blew past Ravenswood 52-23. The Yellowjackets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season.

While Ritchie County didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Tyler 63-39 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Rebels have posted against the Knights since January 21, 2020.

Ritchie County found their leader in sophomore Elsa Law, who dropped a triple-double on 22 points, 14 boards, and ten steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Law has scored all season. Chelsie Jeffrey was another key player, putting up 16 points and six rebounds.

Ritchie County was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tyler only racked up seven assists.

Ritchie County pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Williamstown, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.

Everything came up roses for Williamstown against Ritchie County when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 71-31 victory. In that matchup, Williamstown amassed a halftime lead of 45-12, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Wednesday.
