Recap: Union County Patriots vs. Randolph Southern Rebels

Union County took a 45-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Randolph Southern on Wednesday. Union County just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Union County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Katie McCashland. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with six steals. McCashland is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played.
Union County struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Randolph Southern racked up 12 assists.
Randolph Southern found their leader in underclassman Haileigh Allen, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. Bree Smith was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with four steals.
Union County's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-12. As for Randolph Southern, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
Union County on the road again on Saturday and play against Union City at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Union City is ranked 264th, while Union County is ranked 262nd). As for Randolph Southern, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Shenandoah at 1:30 p.m. Shenandoah and Randolph Southern are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
