Basketball Recap: Westlake Thunder vs. Davis Darts

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Westlake can now relate to. They fell just short of the Davis Darts by a score of 46-44 on Monday. The Thunder were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Darts apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2022.

Westlake's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keira Hester, who shot 63% from the field on her way to 13 points and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Hester a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Ella Seymore, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Davis' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kate Willard led the charge by putting up 12 points in addition to seven boards and three blocks. Mari Nichols was another key player, going 5-for-7 en route to 11 points.
