Basketball Recap: Navajo Pine Falls Despite Big Games from Riley Dawes and Faila King

Navajo Pine lost against Ramah back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Navajo Pine Warriors took a hard 48-34 fall against the Ramah Mustangs. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Faila King and Riley Dawes certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. King posted 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Dawes put up seven points in addition to seven boards and four steals. King has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.

Even though they lost, Navajo Pine smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Navajo Pine's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Ramah, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-9.

Navajo Pine will face off against Laguna Acoma at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Laguna Acoma will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Navajo Pine surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ramah, they will square off against Hozho Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
