Softball Recap: Churchill Takes a Loss

After flying high against Ashland on Saturday, Churchill came back down to earth. The Lancers fell just short of the Grizzlies by a score of 10-9 on Saturday. The Lancers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Grizzlies earlier this season, when they won 14-6.

Lexie Hoberg and Abigail Wiscovich did some serious damage despite the final result: Hoberg went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Wiscovich went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Wiscovich has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Jolene Bousquet was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI.

Churchill's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Ashland, their victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-7.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Churchill will take on rival Crater at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Ashland is set to square off against their familiar foe Springfield at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
