Baseball Recap: Churchill Comes Up Short

Churchill lost against Thurston last Wednesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Lancers fell just short of the Colts by a score of 5-4. The Lancers' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it six in a row.

Jace Litten was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Litten was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Litten wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Blake Mikel, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Churchill's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Thurston, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Colts beat Churchill by a score of 4-0 later that day.
