Baseball Game Preview: Northside Vikings vs. Franklin County Eagles

Northside hasn't had much luck against Franklin County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Vikings will host the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Northside will be strutting in after a victory while Franklin County will be coming in after a defeat.

Northside is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Alleghany with a sharp 17-6 win on Wednesday. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Franklin County duked it out with Staunton River on Tuesday. The Eagles lost 9-1 to the Golden Eagles. The matchup marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Franklin County fell to 5-1. As for Northside, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Northside came out on top in a nail-biter against Franklin County in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
