Softball Recap: Shady Spring Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Shady Spring ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since April 16th.

Raegan Lane spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Peyton Raban was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Shady Spring now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Woodrow Wilson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-11.

Coming up, Shady Spring will take on Oak Hill at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Devils have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season. As for Woodrow Wilson, they will host Nicholas County at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
