Basketball Recap: Summit Academy Comes Up Short

Summit Academy extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 6-14. They had to suffer through an 84-46 loss at the hands of the Mountain View Bruins. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bruins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 90-57 on January 9th.

Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Preston Kelly, who went 5-for-9 en route to 12 points. Thanks to that strong game, Kelly now owns an excellent 45.5% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Dominik Ruiz, who posted eight points.

As for Mountain View, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-8. That 38-point margin sets a new team best for them this season.

Mountain View's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jackson Sperry, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 15 points. Those 15 points gave Sperry a new career-high. Joshua Hair was another key player, going 7-for-13 to rack up 15 points.

Summit Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 67-48 defeat against Skyridge on the 30th. As for Mountain View, they have also already played their next contest, a 77-55 loss against Uintah on the 30th.
