Recap: Collinsville Cardinals vs. Booker T. Washington Hornets
It was a good run, but the Collinsville Cardinals unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 64-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Booker T. Washington. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Collinsville of the 78-49 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture two weeks ago.
Despite the loss, Collinsville still got an impressive performance from Zac Brown, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. Brown has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last ten times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kane Abshire, who scored 13 points.
Jamarri Simpson was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points for Booker T. Washington. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Simpson has scored all season. Joc Mitchell was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Collinsville's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Booker T. Washington, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Collinsville and Pryor will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Pryor will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 351st, while Collinsville is ranked 44th). As for Booker T. Washington, they will head out on the road to take on East Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Booker T. Washington likes a good challenge.
