Ocean Lakes is 9-1 against Princess Anne since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Dolphins will welcome the Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Ocean Lakes 2.9, Princess Anne 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Ocean Lakes came out on top against Kellam on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run sixth inning. The Dolphins blew past the Knights 12-2. Considering the Dolphins have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Ocean Lakes got a great performance from Luke Ellison as he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Ellison has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Connor Mais, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Donovan Nagle, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Princess Anne entered their tilt with Landstown on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cavaliers have posted against the Eagles since March 12, 2019.
Walt Clevenger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits.
At the plate, Matthew Metheny was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Chase Rutledge, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
Ocean Lakes is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Princess Anne, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6.
Ocean Lakes skirted past Princess Anne 3-1 in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Dolphins repeat their success, or do the Cavaliers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
