Baseball Recap: Fort Meade Finds Home Field Redemption Against Marathon

There's no place like home for Fort Meade, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Marathon Dolphins on Thursday.

Owen Harrell made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, DeMarion Abrams was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Noe Jaramillo also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Fort Meade hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive matches.

Fort Meade's record is now 12-6. As for Marathon, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-8.

Fort Meade didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-1 win against Hardee on the 28th. As for Marathon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Westminster Academy on the 29th.
