Football Recap: Union Area Scotties vs. Ellwood City Wolverine
Union Area had lost four straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-8 to make it five. They had to suffer through a 41-6 loss at the hands of the Ellwood City Wolverine. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Scotties of the 33-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.
As for Ellwood City, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-4. Considering they have won three matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Ellwood City got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Richard Cureton out in front who rushed for 143 yards and three scores. Cureton is becoming a predictor of the Wolverine's success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Tyler Smiley was another key player, rushing for 77 yards and one touchdown.
