Preview: Bountiful RedHawks vs. Clearfield Falcons
Bountiful is 7-1 against Clearfield since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Bountiful RedHawks will look to defend their home court against the Clearfield Falcons at 5:15 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Bountiful comes in on 13 and Clearfield on three.
Bountiful can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Wednesday. They really took it to Bonneville for the full four quarters, racking up a 76-29 win at home. With Bountiful ahead 44-13 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Bountiful relied on the efforts of Milika Satuala, who scored 20 points, and Taylor Harvey, who scored 20 points. Satuala has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last six times she's played. Adelaide Stevenson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, Clearfield was able to grind out a solid victory over Roy on Wednesday, taking the game 44-33.
Clearfield found their leader in underclassman Isabelle Wyaskett, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Wyaskett is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Kearns, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Bountiful's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Clearfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Bountiful have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Clearfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Bountiful was able to grind out a solid victory over Clearfield when the teams last played back in January, winning 56-47. Does Bountiful have another victory up their sleeve, or will Clearfield turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
