It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Weddington had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Purnell Swett Rams a 3-0 shutout. Given Weddington's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Purnell Swett are ranked 396th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory made it two in a row for Weddington and bumps their season record up to 9-9-4. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two contests.
