Football Recap: Marshall Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Marshall's offense. They were outmatched by the Mt. Carmel Golden Aces and fell 35-0. The Lions have struggled against the Golden Aces recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Luke Brodie threw for 68 yards on six of 11 attempts. Gavyn Boden was his top target, picking up 32 receiving yards. On the ground, Lucca Giannavola rushed for 65 yards.

Mt. Carmel's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jackson Kling, who rushed for 77 yards and three touchdowns. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Kling a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elliott Acree, who rushed for 117 yards and one score on only 14 carries.

Marshall's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Mt. Carmel, the victory also got them back to even at 4-4.

Coming up, Marshall will square off against Newton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mt. Carmel, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lawrenceville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Aces will be up against the Indians' rather soft defense (which has allowed 40.25 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
