Washington Academy had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Mount View Mustangs on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.

James Welch made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trevor Shimabukuro, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Gardner, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.

Washington Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .526. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Washington Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Mount View, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.
