Football Recap: Northside Comes Up Short

Northside extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 16 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-8. They were outmatched by the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets and fell 70-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 62-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

As for Thomas County Central, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0. The result was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won seven games by 48 points or more so far this season.

Christian Lawrence was his usual excellent self, rushing for 125 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven carries, while also picking up 77 receiving yards and one touchdown. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 59 yards. Jaylen Johnson was another key player, throwing for 168 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 81.8% of his passes.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Northside is set to square off against their familiar foe Lee County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Thomas County Central will take on rival Houston County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Lawrence and Colin Anderson.
