The Farmington Phoenix will square off against the Syracuse Titans at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Friday, Farmington made easy work of Bonneville and carried off a 14-4 win. That's two games straight that the Phoenix have won by exactly ten runs.
Meghan Fields made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Fields was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Farmington let Morgan Rogers and Hadley Crowley run wild. Rogers went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Crowley scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave Crowley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiley Gazafy, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Syracuse). Everything went their way against Layton on Thursday as they made off with an 18-12 victory. The win continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won five in a row.
Jazmine Prathan and Grace Thomas did most of the damage at the plate: Prathan fired off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-5, while Thomas fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-5. Thomas has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. Oaklee Derrickson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
Syracuse was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Farmington's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Syracuse, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
Farmington's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. The Phoenix have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Syracuse, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Farmington continue to outrun the ball?
Farmington couldn't quite finish off Syracuse in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 12-10. Can the Phoenix avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
