Preview: San Augustine Wolves vs. Chireno Owls
The San Augustine Wolves will be playing at home against the Chireno Owls at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. San Augustine will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
Last Friday, San Augustine didn't have too much trouble with Broaddus on the road as they won 58-42. Given San Augustine's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 679th, while Broaddus is ranked 1553rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
San Augustine found their leader in underclassman Joshua Roland, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of D'Adrian Renfro, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Chireno came up short against Woden on Friday and fell 53-45.
San Augustine is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Chireno, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
San Augustine was able to grind out a solid victory over Chireno when the teams last played on January 2nd, winning 56-43. Does San Augustine have another victory up their sleeve, or will Chireno turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
