Lisa Arkelian spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ava Holmen, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alexandra Ramos, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, St. Vincent de Paul waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Braves. Considering the Mustangs have won six matches by more than ten runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Makayla Bignardi made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Bignardi was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-4. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, St. Vincent de Paul let Maddy Rynning and Lidia Brady run wild. Rynning went 1-for-4 with four runs, one double, and one RBI, while Brady went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs Brady has posted since back in April. Johana Stone was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
St. Vincent de Paul was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Willits' win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-9. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for St. Vincent de Paul, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
