Basketball Recap: Burley Beats Preston for Their Third Straight Victory

Burley waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Preston Indians by a score of 50-40. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 51-50 back in November of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Burley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ruby Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. Taylor has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Adalynn Olmos, who posted ten points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Burley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive matches.

Burley's record now sits at 11-3. As for Preston, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burley will head out to challenge Minico at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Preston, they will venture away from home to face off against Century at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Preston is facing Century at the right time seeing as Century is stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
