Softball Game Preview: Clifton Mustangs vs. Passaic County Tech Bulldogs

Clifton is 2-8 against Passaic County Tech since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Mustangs will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 4:15 p.m. Clifton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Clifton turned things around against Kearny on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Kardinals 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since May 8, 2024.

Sydney Reeb spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, Casey Mullen and Isabella Franco did most of the damage at the plate: Mullen went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI, while Franco went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles Mullen has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Stephanie Flete, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Passaic County Tech was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Passaic Valley.

Passaic County Tech's loss dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Clifton, their victory bumped their record up to 8-10.
