Baseball Game Preview: Westmoreland Eagles vs. Northview Academy Cougars

The Westmoreland Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Northview Academy Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Westmoreland has five straight wins, Northview Academy has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Westmoreland made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Jo Byrns, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Westmoreland put the hurt on Jo Byrns with a sharp 12-0 victory on Thursday. The Eagles not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 22, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Kyler Abell, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cooper White, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Westmoreland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Northview Academy faced off against Lakeway Christian Academy on Friday. Northview Academy came up short against Lakeway Christian Academy, falling 7-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Cougars have suffered since March 11, 2024.

Westmoreland pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Northview Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Westmoreland was able to grind out a solid victory over Northview Academy in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, winning 9-6. Does Westmoreland have another victory up their sleeve, or will Northview Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
