Softball Game Preview: Leipsic Vikings vs. Liberty-Benton Eagles

Leipsic hasn't had much luck against Liberty-Benton recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Vikings will take on the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Leipsic fell victim to Elmwood and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Royals, falling 10-0.

Liberty-Benton couldn't beat Upper Sandusky on Friday even though they stacked four runs on them in the seventh inning. The Eagles fell just short of the Rams by a score of 9-8.

Megan Gerken and Sophie McDaniel stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gerken went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run, while McDaniel got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. McDaniel continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Lauren Erdeljac was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Leipsic's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Liberty-Benton, their loss dropped their record down to 12-6.

Leipsic suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Liberty-Benton when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
