Basketball Recap: Barron Collier Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Barron Collier couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell to the Stranahan Mighty Dragons 48-44. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Mighty Dragons are ranked 32nd).

When it comes to explaining why Barron Collier lost on Wednesday, don't look at Spencer Clayton. Despite the final result, he posted 35 points and eight rebounds. Those 35 points gave Clayton a new career-high.

Stranahan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Christian Yeargin, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Esron Simeon, who earned 11 points and five boards.
