Softball Recap: Gallatin Takes a Loss

Gallatin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 11-5 to the East Robertson Indians. The Green Wave were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2022.

Olivia Downs was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off 11 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lizzy Plunkett was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bailey Daughtry, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Gallatin's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for East Robertson, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-5.

Coming up, Gallatin will challenge Beech at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for East Robertson, they will face off against Todd County Central at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
